PRESIDENT

Robert Knight MCIOB, MRICS, CEnv, MASI, Ffbe - Igloo Regeneration

Robert is a Chartered Builder, Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Environmentalist with over 30 years managerial experience in the Construction, Civil Engineering, House building and Mixed Use Development Businesses. Within the igloo team Robert has responsibility for procurement strategies and the operational delivery of igloo’s direct developments across the UK.

Robert is currently a Board Member of the Construction Clients Group and follows his passion by participating in a number of groups which influence sustainable and environmental issues as well as contributing to the UN Environmental programme as a member of their College of Observers.  Robert has regularly commented in the media on urban regeneration and Sustainable developments and has spoken on these issues plus Value Management, Project delivery, Collaborative working and Supply Chain Integration on a number of occasions.

Kevin is a Design Manager for Sir Robert McAlpine in Bristol with extensive experience across many industry sectors.

He has a track record of hands-on collaborative design management, innovation and delivering sustainable buildings. As well as being current Chairman of the Constructing Excellence Bristol Club he was also the former Director of Constructing Excellence in Wales and Chairman of m4i. Kevin's specialities include collaborative design management, sustainability, innovation and driving industry best practice.

Andrew Langmaid, Satis Consulting

Andrew became a partner in 2002 after seven years at Davis Langdon. In 1995 he graduated from the University of Reading with a BSc (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying and later (2003) from Henley Management College with an MBA (Masters in Business Administration).

He has a broad range of experience in a variety of sectors, with specialist experience in the commercial private sector. Andrew has particular experience acting as an Employers Agent on large commercial offices and sat on Davis Langdon’s National Employers’ Agent Forum for a number of years.

Currently Andrew also sits on the BCO (British Council of Offices) Committee for the South West and Wales and is an external examiner on the construction courses at the University of Reading.

Huw Morgan - Veale Wasbrough Vizards

Huw Morgan is a construction lawyer and Partner at Veale Wasbrough Lawyers, providing legal advice to funders, building owners, developers, contractors and construction professionals upon their rights and obligations in all aspects of the construction process. He advises upon projects procured through PPP/PFI Design and Build, Bespoke Partnering arrangements and under more traditional forms of contract.

Huw is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Technology and Construction Court Solicitors Association, Society of Construction Law, and is a CEDR registered mediator. His Dispute Resolution work has covered domestic and international arbitration, Technology and Construction Court litigation, adjudication and mediation. He has been involved in a number of reported cases: Thomson -v- Clive Alexander and Partners; North Thames RHA -v- Sheppard Robson and Whiteways Contractors (Sussex) Limited -v- Impresa Castelli Construction UK Limited. Huw regularly lectures on construction law topics.

Abigail Scott - AECOM

Abigail is a Trainee Quantity Surveyor in AECOM’s Bristol Office. Starting her career as an apprentice Quantity Surveyor in 2013, she has since completed her apprenticeship, achieved Associate RICS accreditation and is currently attending the University of the West of England part time to complete a degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management.

She has previously worked in the commercial offices, retail, health and leisure sectors providing cost management services ranging from pre-contract cost planning and procurement to post-contract cost control and final account agreement.

Martyn Jones - University of the West of England
 

During the past twenty years Martyn has taught, consulted, researched and published extensively on construction’s response to post-Fordism. For over ten years he has been associated with the Construction Reform Movement having been one of the founding members of the Bristol Club and for a time the Regional Manager / Interim Director for the South West. Recently he has been facilitating the Club’s Here to Learn workshops.

Gary Fisher - Sense Cost Consultancy (part of the Mace Group)
 

Gary qualified in 1998 from Loughborough University with a 2:1 in Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying. Since then he has become MRICS qualified and has worked on all sides of the industry (Client, Contractor and now PQS) giving good all round experience (15 years), particularly in retail, residential, commercial, major office development work and more recently education. His current role is that of Associate Director for Sense, the Cost Consultancy arm of the Mace Group and is heading up the region based out of the Bristol office.

Gary is focused on developing and growing all 3 offices (Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter) over the next few years. Currently working on various projects in the education sector, Gary is a highly committed Associate with particular expertise in business development, well known in both the Bristol and London markets, bringing in both internal and external clients. He has a proven track record of successfully delivering projects and building working teams who deliver ahead of expectations, on time and to budget. He is highly skilled in cost control methods and an accomplished negotiator.

Rob Williams - igloo Regeneration
 

Rob is a Development Project Manager for igloo having joined the company in 2012. Before that he was a Project Manager at Davis Langdon/AECOM. He has an MSc in Project Management from the University of Reading and is a Member of the RICS. Rob’s Project Management skills were nationally recognised when he was runner up in the Young Project Manager of the Year category at the 2011 Association of Project Management Awards.

At igloo Rob has been leading on the construction delivery of various residential led developments, with a portfolio of over 500 new homes. During his time at Davis Langdon he has worked on a wide variety and scale of projects including the Combe Down Stone Mines and BBC Roath Lock Studios at Porth Teigr. Having developed an intricate knowledge of the NEC and JCT forms of contract, along with detailed programming skills, Rob has a proven ability for successfully delivering projects for clients.

Jamie Siggers MEng CEng MIStructE MICE ACGI FFB - CampbellReith
 

Since graduating from Imperial College after a four year Civil Engineering MEng, Jamie has forged his career first at Buro Happold in Bath and Dublin, then at whitbybird in Bath/Bristol, followed by nine years at WSP leading the Bristol Structural Engineering team  for the latter two. He is now Partner of the Bristol office of CampbellReith responsible for Civil, Structural, Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental teams. He attained Chartership status through exam and review with both Structural and Civil Engineering Institutions in 2000 and 2001 respectively.

Jamie has successfully lead and delivered a wide range of projects from small, award-winning and innovative timber engineered buildings to high-rise towers and from bespoke private houses to large mixed use residential, commercial and retail schemes throughout the UK, Ireland, Europe and Asia.

He has a keen interest in sustainability, particularly in the environmental and social aspects and will challenge briefs and propose innovation where appropriate to embed these outcomes within all projects. Jamie also has a strong belief that better projects are delivered where there is a strong project team relationship and believes that interdisciplinary understanding and appreciation is key to this and has, throughout his career, applied himself to broadening his own knowledge and that of his teams.

Hugh Nettelfield - Hugh Nettelfield Consultancy

Hugh’s architectural consultancy specialises in providing advice to clients, contractors and communities. His enthusiasm for nurturing a collaborative approach to projects has resulted in many award-winning projects over the years.

As one of Quattro Design’s founding directors, Hugh specialised in delivering high profile community partnership projects; he took responsibility for developing sustainability within the practice and for setting up an ambitious Environmental Management System. Hugh is a founder member of the Localism Network and helps in the valuable work of the Neighbourhood Planning Network.

Mike Conway - Camargue
 

Mike is an expert in communication and has delivered major b2b campaigns for clients in professional services, waste, energy, construction and property for over 20 years. Mike advises a range of clients in the UK and internationally, on profile raising and corporate positioning, covering a broad spectrum of audiences and creative techniques.   

Alongside the corporate communications work, Mike’s experience includes specialist communications input on bids and tenders, plus managing communications, stakeholder relations and community engagement programmes for major planning projects, including DCOs.   Mike has been a judge on the Construction Marketing Awards for some six years.

Mark Rogers - Turner & Townsend

Mark is a Cost Management Director at Turner & Townsend having worked with the business for 10 years and has over 20 years of delivering projects in the UK, Australia and Russia.  He graduated from the University of West of England with a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying in 1995 and attained his MRICS qualification in 1999.

 

Mark’s diverse experience provides him with a detailed understanding of both practical construction issues and the delivery of Cost Management services to add value to client’s projects. Having worked on projects with multiple stakeholders, Mark is commercially aware of the need to balance construction costs, time and business requirements to best suit the asset owners and operator’s needs.  Mark has a strong track record in the Residential, Health and Industrial & Manufacturing Sectors delivered a wide range of facilities including existing building conversion and refurbishment to greenfield new build.  Mark has worked on a number of high value development programmes where he has led Turner & Townsend’s services.
